The Almanac

What every Warden should know. The numbers below are the usual defaults. A Fold's host may have tuned them.

Grain & Coin

A granary ledger: sacks of Grain weighed against Coin

The world settles on its own. Whenever you or the game touch your Steading, the elapsed time lands at once. Production and upkeep are counted to the hour. You never "miss" an upkeep tick. The world simply catches up with you.

Soldiers eat double because soldiers always have.

Folk growth

Fed Folk with free housing grow +2% per day. Fed Folk without free housing grow +0.5%. Starving Folk do not grow.

When it runs out

  • Empty granary: each unfed day, 5% of your Folk die and 10% of your forces desert, biggest eaters first. Starvation is public. The whole Fold learns your granary is empty. Your neighbors will do the arithmetic.
  • Empty treasury: unpaid forces desert at 10% per day until the payroll balances. At least it stays quiet. Bankruptcy shows only to you, until someone's Whisper finds it.

There is no debt. The ledger simply takes what the treasury can't cover.
